Karakteristik Viabilitas dan Vigor Benih Kedelai (Glycine max L. Merrill) Setelah Penyimpanan pada Berbagai Perlakuan Seed Coating dan Jenis Kemasan

Viabilitas dan vigor benih kedelai merupakan faktor kunci yang menentukan keberhasilan perkecambahan dan pertumbuhan awal tanaman di lapangan. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji perubahan viabilitas dan vigor benih kedelai setelah penyimpanan pada berbagai kombinasi perlakuan seed coating dan jenis kemasan. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) faktorial dengan dua faktor, yaitu seed coating (asam askorbat 250 ppm + arabic gum 3%; asam askorbat 250 ppm + tapioka 5%; asam askorbat 350 ppm + arabic gum 3%; asam askorbat 350 ppm + tapioka 5%) dan jenis kemasan (toples dan plastik polyethylene). Data dianalisis menggunakan ANOVA, uji BNT 5%, korelasi Pearson, dan Principal Component Analysis (PCA). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan seed coating asam askorbat 250 ppm + arabic gum mampu mempertahankan kadar air benih tetap rendah pada kemasan toples maupun plastik polyethylene pada 30 HSS. Kadar air benih berkorelasi negatif dengan variabel viabilitas dan vigor benih. Rerata viabilitas dan vigor benih cenderung menurun pada benih yang terjadi peningkatan kadar air selama penyimpanan. Perlakuan asam askorbat 250–350 ppm + arabic gum dalam kemasan toples menunjukkan kemampuan terbaik dalam mempertahankan viabilitas dan vigor benih kedelai hingga 120 HSS dibandingkan perlakuan lainnya.
